picking & choosing
In the process of building this class, I located a range of important readings in this area of scholarship that were interesting & relevant.
Ultimately, I made the final determinations through evaluating: 1) the learning goals for the class and the aim of ethnographic research; 2) the other offerings in our department, i.e. how I could contribute something new for our advanced level students; 3) how each reading would connect with the broader theoretical underpinnings of my course; 4) which readings which would add something new to the conversation in that particular unit.
However, as I collected and curated so many resources, I have decided to build out a place for my website where I share the wider list of readings I organized. (In my course resources folder in my class, I offered these as "optional" readings for the students.)
This will probably take until summer, but I will share as soon as that's completed.
Thanks for reading!
